The R U OK? Student Connection Champions Program is a free, student-led initiative designed to strengthen connection, belonging, and conversation confidence among young people.
Delivered in a peer-to-peer setting, the program sees Year 9 and/or Year 10 Student Connection Champions lead Year 7 students through a series of age-appropriate, practical activities. It supports schools to build a year-round culture where students feel connected, supported, and confident to check in with one another.
The program has been co-designed with educators and students, and trialled in secondary schools. It has been developed to fit within existing lesson structures and can be adapted to suit different school sizes, settings, and contexts.
Participating schools receive a digital, pick-up-and-go resource package, including step-by-step guidance, toolkits, and ready-to-use materials to support implementation.
By embedding the R U OK? message into everyday school life, the program helps build a culture of connection and belonging that lasts year-round, rather than being limited to a single day or event.
